Vektor, Witch Mountain
VEKTOR is a progressive sci-fi thrash metal band from Tempe, AZ, a four-piece who quickly gained popularity amongst the Phoenix metal contingent for their unique mix of technical, speed thrash and progressive influences. Vektor created a wave of interest with their self-released demo Demolition (2006) and their two-track demo Hunger for Violence (2007). After four years of local and regional performances as the opening act for such national acts as Testament, Hirax, Iced Earth and Municipal Waste, Vektor hit the road. We're glad they did. WITCH MOUNTAIN is at the forefront of a growing metal scene in Portland, getting their start in 1997 and becoming a Northwest staple. They received critical acclaim with their 2001 release, Come the Mountain, and toured with the likes of Eternal Elysium, Acid King, Agalloch, YOB, Thrones, and more. After a ten-year hiatus, the band came back stronger then ever. New member Uta Plotkin added a dose of soul (yes, soul) to the band's epic and groove-laden grunge, and their 2011 release earned praise from the likes of NPR and more, making for doom metal that is furiously awesome. STOVOKOR is an American death metal band from Portland, Oregon, a five-piece who based a band solely on the Klingon characters that appear in the Star Trek franchise. All of the members of Stovokor dress in Klingon costumes and the band's lyrics themselves are written in Klingon language. Nothing more cool.
