Revolution Hall

Upcoming Shows:
531 SE 14th Ave (at Stark) Portland, OR

A sleeping giant is about to awaken in the heart of Southeast Portland’s Buckman neighborhood. George Washington High School, the sprawling brick structure at the intersection of Stark and SE 14th (closed to students since 1981) has been completely rebuilt and repurposed. At the heart of its redevelopment is REVOLUTION HALL, a brand new state-of-the-art events room housed in the building’s auditorium, opening in February 2015.

Revolution Hall’s 850-plus seated capacity venue is powered by Mississippi Studios and Bar Bar founders Jim Brunberg and Kevin Cradock, in partnership with Mark Adler and the team behind The Aladdin Theater and True West, one of the Northwest’s primary live event promoters. The team includes True West’s latest addition Travis Labbe, long-time production head on many of Portland’s largest events, and associate talent buyer Matt King of Mississippi Studios.

The Revolution Hall team is a unique collection of Northwest music and restaurant industry veterans excited about continuing Portland’s long tradition of music and arts events. The addition of a versatile and mixed-use venue of this size in the Southeast helps ensure that Portland continues to be a necessary tour stop for artists of all sizes.

Like Mississippi Studios and the Aladdin Theater, programming will focus on artist- and arts-lover-friendly curation of relevant, diverse, and original entertainment, with emphasis on quality production, patron comfort, and diversification of the Southeast Portland neighborhood’s already thriving small business and arts culture.
Two full service bars will live within Revolution Hall - Martha’s (upstairs) and Great Meadows (named after the site of Washington’s historic military surrender), with additional satellite bars within the venue. Great Meadows will offer a full-service bar, café, market and outdoor patio that sits adjacent to the school’s former soccer field, which will remain in place as a green area and dog park. Great Meadows will be open to the public during morning and daytime hours.

Atop Revolution Hall is a roof deck with sweeping views, available for events and other uses.

Rebuilt from the ground up, but retaining all of the historic charm of the original 1922 theater, as well as many touches from its most recent high school iteration (including some lockers and chalk boards in artist areas) REVOLUTION HALL will feature the following:

- A full, wraparound balcony
- 850 plus seats with open space in front and in the wings for dancing
- Class A, powerful and clear sound system & acoustical treatment
- World Class lighting array and control system
- Two full-service bars (Martha’s and Great Meadows)
- Outdoor patio & 200-capacity ROOF DECK w/elevator access & 360 degree views.
- Parking, tour bus parking
